Rainbow Tasmania Tourism Accreditation

If you are travelling around Tasmania and happen to come across the Rainbow Tasmania Accreditation logo (shown above), you can rest assured that the operators of that touring business are aware of and catering to the needs of LGBTIQA+ people.

The Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania (TICT), in consultation with Rainbow Communities Tasmania Inc. (RCT Inc.) and its Coming Out Proud Program (COPP) Community Liaison Committee, have developed for industry the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP), Rainbow Tasmania Tourism Accreditation for tourism operators who want to truly become an (LGBTIQA+) friendly business.

All tourism businesses, no matter where they are located or how small they are, are likely to receive enquiries and bookings from members of the LGBTIQA+ community. Rainbow Tasmania Tourism Accreditation provides the opportunity for operators to show that their business treats all people in the same non-discriminatory manner and provides a safe and comfortable environment for their LGBTI clients.

What are the benefits? The Rainbow Tasmania Tourism Accreditation provides tourism businesses and travellers with:

• Greater client and travelling satisfaction;

• Authority to display and identify the Rainbow Tasmania Tourism Accreditation logo, an easily recognisable brand that confirms the friendly welcoming of LGBTIQA+ clientele, at point of business and on all promotional and advertising material;

• Compliance with the Anti-Discrimination Act 1998 (TAS);

• A marketing edge when communicating with LGBTIQA+ people, and confidence that touring operators will acknowledge and warmly receive them.

• The assurance tourism operators and their staff require to engage with LGBTIQA+ clientele effectively;
